I woke up early on the 5th of July and rode my motorcycle about 3 hours to Taylor Reservoir. I met my boy Mike C. who was camped there. We then rode from Taylor Res. to Crested Butte via dirt trails. He was on a much smaller, nimbler bike than me (not to mention he's a pretty good rider as well) so I spent most of the time trying to keep up with him. we made it to Crested Butte after what I thought was an awesome ride. Once there we camped out with some other buddies that we know. I was reminded of just how awesome a place Crested Butte is. It is just absolutely beautiful.
Then we woke up Sunday morning, shook off the hangover from the festivities the night before, and headed back over to Taylor via a little different route. This was my first experience with the KLR on single track. It was definitely challenging ... but I made it out alive and unscathed. I had an absolute blast every minute of the way.
On the way back to Denver, I got drenched coming over Cottonwood pass and hit with some hail. The traffic on HWY 285 was just terrible, so it took me quite a bit longer to get home. But, you still won't hear any complaining from me. That's what makes it an adventure, right? All in all just an awesome, awesome weekend.
